As you drive along the highway from Jackson heading to Dubois (or Yellowstone National Park, depending on if you turn or stay straight), for a portion of the road the valley drops down from the road steeply. There are plenty of turnouts so you can stop and take a look. The Snake River meanders along, and in this photo, some bison enjoy some grass and water. It is so beautiful.

Princeton

This Wednesday I had to go down to Lawrenceville, New Jersey, which is about 1-1/2 hours away from my home. It is right next to Princeton, a town I’d never been to before, so we stopped there for a little walk before we headed home. This was taken on the beautiful campus of Princeton University.

Jackson Land & Cattle Barn

Jackson Land & Cattle is the largest working ranch in Jackson, and this is one of their many barns. I actually think this barn was recently built, or maybe it was moved from another location. It has a lovely, worn patina and it looks beautiful in the snow.

Ride ’em Cowboy

This wonderful sculpture is on display above the Uncommon Objects store in Austin, Texas. A place worth a visit if you're ever in Austin. I would love that sculpture in my yard though!

Beautiful Corn Flakes

While I was away for two weeks, Corn Flakes finished his transformation into a stunningly handsome rooster. He’s also ‘servicing’ the ladies on a regular basis, whether they like it or not.

Welcome Winter

This beautiful door in Wyoming looked so welcoming in the snow.

2 Bull Moose Under the Tetons

While I’m continuing to enjoy a much-needed vacation, I am catching up on some long-overdue sleep, recovering from a very nasty cold, enjoying the sunshine and bluebird skies on the ski slopes, and today finally got to go riding and catch up for hours with my friend Terry. But I don’t want you to think I’ve forgotten you. I’m plotting new crafts and cooking projects for the new year, and trying to think of some witty things to say.

Amanda and I got up before sunrise this morning on our annual hunt for the elusive frosty buffalo (….it’s a long story). We did not find a single bison today, but we did see lots of moose. These two strikingly handsome bull moose were perfectly positioned under the Grand Teton.

And here’s a closeup of the handsome fellows.

A Bluebird Day

Today was a cold, but stunning day in Wyoming. I took this with India’s camera from the top of the Casper lift as we were skiing this morning.

Louisiana Shed

An old shed on a rural back road in Louisiana, nestled amongst the changing leaves.

Abandoned Farmhouse Window

This abandoned farmhouse in Louisiana was literally falling down. There was a beautiful patina to the old wood, and by focusing the shot inside, it allows you to see both the beautiful wood on the outside, and also the few strips of remaining wallpaper hanging off the walls on the inside.
