Since we’re having spring-like weather here in Connecticut, today I thought I’d post a photo I took last June of a baby moose in Teton National Park in Wyoming.
Baby Moose
Seeking Refuge
Every time Amanda and I are in Jackson in the winter together we always go out very early one morning and “go hunting for the frosty buffalo”. There’s a story to why we call it that, but that’s for another day. Over the Christmas break this year we headed out early one morning on our quest. This beautiful sunrise greeted us.
Just outside of town we came across this line of elk, all looking in the same direction.
What they were looking at, was a way to get across the river into the refuge where all their friends were.
I’m sure they eventually figured it out.
Sparrow in the Snow
This little sparrow was waiting in the snow for the chickens and goats to finish the snack of scratch grains I’d thrown around so she could go down and eat the leftovers. I’ve become the favorite neighborhood feeding grounds for lots of birds, and they always seem to be there waiting at feeding time.
Catching Snowflakes
Evan was helping me shovel out some paths for the goats and chickens in today’s snowstorm and I caught this shot of him taking a break.
Moose in a Snowstorm
After Christmas when I was bringing Amanda to the airport very early one morning, I continued up the road towards Yellowstone. I came across this pair of moose. Apparently the cow (female) wasn’t quite ready to get up yet for the day, but her bull moose partner was quite handsome.
White Naped Crane

This white-naped crane at the Trevor Zoo this weekend was clearly keeping one eye on me.
Diner Jukebox

Yesterday while in Millbrook, New York with the family we ate at the diner in town. The kids were absolutely fascinated with the tabletop jukeboxes they still had. After inserting a quarter in them though we were informed that they no longer worked.
Adorable Porcupine
While up in the small town of Millbrook, New York today we stopped at the Millbrook Zoo. This porcupine perched at the top of a bare tree huddled up against the cold wind was quite possibly one of the cutest things I’d ever seen.
Here’s a closeup of his little face.
Red Fox in a Snowstorm

This is not the best quality photo, but the subject is great. In a Wyoming snowstorm at around 6 a.m. one morning over this Christmas holiday, way up near Moran Junction, I caught this red fox walking along the snow-covered field.
Earlier in the week a stunning grey fox walked right by my kitchen window as I sat there drinking my morning coffee. Of course by the time I grabbed my camera and ran out onto the deck he’d walked into the brush, so this was the best I could get.
