Italian Flowers

I've been to Italy three times and the vivid colors and friendly people will never grow old.

Barred Rock Mid Flight

I love this photo. I caught one of my Barred Rock chickens jumping down from the birdhouse she's been standing on. The contrast between the in-focus birdhouse, the flying chicken and the trees and sky in the background just appealed to me.

3 Frosty Moose

You can look at this photo while humming the tune to 3 Brown Mice, but substitute 3 Frosty Moose. A great shot of 3 frosty moosies I took, oddly enough, in Moose, Wyoming.

Louisiana Factory Roof

I don't know why this factory in Louisiana had so many of these vents in their roof, but I love the way they looked all rusty and worn against the background of the yellow tree leaves.

Elk Migration

There are several interesting things about this photo. First of all, the date I took it is May 6th of 2010. May. That's snow on the ground. I took this photo directly across the street from the entrance to Teton Village, the small town at the ski mountain just outside of Jackson. It is during the elk migration, so all of the elk are leaving the elk refuge to head back up into the mountains for the summer. Also note the hawk sitting on the fence to the left. Abundant wildlife aplenty in Wyoming.

Eggs in the Afternoon Light

A rainbow of fresh eggs in the afternoon light.

Sunset in Southport

My son is having tutoring on Monday evenings a few towns away in a lovely waterside town called Southport. As the days get longer, I'm finally getting an opportunity to take photographic advantage of the area while I wait for Evan to finish. Tonight it was just lovely.

Art is A Personal Thing

If you're not close to my age or older, you might not even know what this is. It's a sculpture of an old typewriter eraser. The red wheel was made of eraser, and you'd use the rubber brush bristles to brush away the eraser crumbs. That's what I learned to type with - this was before White Out was invented. Anyway, once again proving that art is trully a personal thing, this enormous sculpture of an old typewriter eraser, that stands probably 15 feet tall, is in the front yard of a beautiful estate near where my children go to school. Maybe he's the CEO of IBM or something?

A Breathtaking Sunset

We had torrential rains most of the day today, but around sunset the wind picked up and blew it all away. I could see glimpses of what looked to be a spectacular sunset, so I took my camera down to the beach and got this photo of the amazing sky. It was so windy I had to brace myself against a tree to take the shot!
